FAQ: General Information
What is M.A.C.O.?
M.A.C.O. stands for Military Assault Combat Operations. It is the Military Branch of the Kaneva Republic.
What is Kaneva?
Kaneva is a social community located at Link. Over a year ago M.A.C.O. was established as the main military force to protect Kaneva and to deal with local order. It then expanded into new realms to explore and set up settlements in other "regions".
What games does M.A.C.O. operate in?
Currently M.A.C.O. operates in Star Wars Galaxies, BattleField 2142 and Combat Arms, Darkfall, and World of Warcraft.
How can I join M.A.C.O.?
Playing any of the above games is the first sure way to join M.A.C.O. Current members of M.A.C.O. are constantly searching and recruiting new members that they find in these games that could become a valuable asset. Recommendations from current members may also be taken into consideration, though playing the games and taking an active role is the most important factor in becoming a member.
Do I have to play the above games to stay a member once I become one?
If there is some reason that you can no longer continue to play the game for an extended period of time, then no. It is favorable that all members are active in some way. Kaneva is a great way to stay active as a member if the games are not an option for some.
What are the expectations as a member?
As a member it is expected to check M.A.C.O.’s site on a daily basis if you are able to. Being present on TeamSpeak is also an important part of being a member. http://maco-online.org/viewpage.php?page_id=3 is where you can find all the information that is needed for TeamSpeak. If you are involved in the games, it is important that you take the role you are given in the game seriously. If an unexcused hiatus of time passes where a member is absent, the possibility of: demotion, suspension, probation and even elimination of a member may happen. Excused absences are perfectly acceptable as long as notice to a commanding head is given in a considerable amount of time before leave is taken.
How do I achieve rank in M.A.C.O.?
To achieve a rank other than private, (the rank given after basic training), you are expected to participate in the games. Proving that you can handle yourself, work together with your members, take orders from high commanding officers and lead other members are vital things that will impress the leading officers, as well as contributing to M.A.C.O. in other aspects. Once you have reached a certain point, or your skills have accumulated to a certain point, a promotion will be rewarded. Promotions do not simply happen, and are not handed out. Hard work will be given a higher rank, while others that do not put forth much effort will continue to sit at their current rank. Rank is a reward, not a right. It can be taken away because of violations and misdemeanors. If incompetence, failure to obey and/or corruption is suspected or witnessed, punishment will be delivered without question; a demotion or rank and all higher rights will be stripped. Mistakes are made, but carelessness and recklessness is intolerable. Responsibility is important, and integrity and motivation of an individual is what really counts towards achieving a rank.
If I have a problem, who should I report to?
There are always members that will be around to help; either in game, on Kaneva, or in TeamSpeak. Most problems should be consulted first with your squad member, if the problem escalates into something that the squad leader is unable to handle; it will be passed into the hands of the high ranking officers. If the problem or conflict is with another member, it is preferred that the problem is attempted to be worked out before going to others with the problem.
A sudden emergency happened and I’m not able to tell anyone I won’t be on for a while. Will I lose everything because of it?
Absolutely not. In cases like this, some phone numbers of other members are available. In the case that there is not time to even make a phone call, an explanation when upon returning is completely understandable and no consequences will follow.
If I quit M.A.C.O. am I banished from TeamSpeak and game servers as a result?
If a member quits with reasonable measures, then they will simply be listed as a retired members. This meaning, if a member needs to leave for a long period of time, they will still hold their rank, and be an inactive member. If they are able to come back within a certain period of time, they will be given back their rank, rights and anything they left with. If a member quits merely because they do not want to deal with M.A.C.O. anymore, or they find another operation to join, they will not be given back anything if they return. They will have to start from the bottom and prove themselves once more.
What’s the main objective for a member of M.A.C.O?
The most important thing is to protect and make sure Kaneva is protected and watched over. The second thing is make sure that you are having fun. If a member is finding themselves uncomfortable with other members one should try and open up more; even if it’s only with a couple others. Everyone pretty much works as a team and gets along well.
